The Stewardship Plan
The stewardship plan for Noosa World Surfing Reserve is to unite all relevant community groups with the local surfing community in an ongoing endeavour to preserve and protect the surfing assets of Noosa, now officially identified as among the world’s best.
Our Association aims to play a leading role in facilitating discussion, planning and action to ensure that the voice of all beach users will be heard in determining the future of our points and beach breaks. This will include education and promotion of awareness of the fragility and value of our coastline.

President
Kirra Molnar
Kirra Molnar grew up in Noosa, a local surfer who started competing on the WSL World Longboard Tour in 2019. She holds two Bachelor degrees in Business and Science (Sports Management) and is an avid entrepreneur within the surfing industry.
Vice President
Michael Court
Secretary and representative member for the Noosa Boardriders Club. A brand and retail expert, Michael has been living and surfing in the Noosa area for over 45 years.
Treasurer
Kate Gardiner
Kate discovered the Sunshine Coast in the 1970s. Several careers later, and two beautiful grown up daughters, in 2007 she relocated to Noosa. Initially she worked remotely in IT and online education and these days she does some local consulting. She grabs every opportunity to get out in the ocean or on the river.
Secretary
Scott Thorson
Scott was born and raised in Los Angeles. He is a lifelong surfer starting in 1962 at the age of eight. In 1973 he went to Alaska where he spent the next 40 years. He came to Noosa in 2013, becoming an Australian citizen in 2022. Scott is married to Heidi Thorson. His daughter, Nerissa lives in Anchorage.

Representing Noosa Heads Surf Lifesaving Club – Chris is a Surfer / traveller for the last 50 years. Chris is also a volunteer lifesaver, Fire Fighter and passionate about sharing and preserving the local environment.

Originally from South Africa. Graeme has been living on the Sunshine Coast for the last 2 years. With a background in Sales and Marketing. He is an avid surfer and surf photographer.

Acting Senior Ranger, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service – Sunshine Coast. John’s role includes the operational management of the National Parks and protected areas between Noosa and Maroochydore.

Council Observer – Noosa Councillor – What keeps me up at night- community matters and surfing – Lived in Noosa 20 years. – Married to a family of surfers. – Avid surfer – Industrial law background
Guy Ely
Fisheries Queensland - Operational (28 years) in education and compliance – worked throughout Queensland – Guy is passionate about conservation and sustainability of fisheries resources, marine ecosystems and coastal environment. Fulfilled by all ocean activities, free diving/spear fishing, fishing and surfing. Volunteer Marine Animal Rescue Team (Qld Fisheries) and Surf Life Saving.
Liam Allan
Liam, an ex-military helicopter pilot and Afghanistan veteran has found significant relief from his PTSD with the introduction of surfing into his life. He is keen to share the stoke with those who also suffer from mental health issues and work to preserve the NWSR so that it may continue to provide its natural therapies for everyone - for generations to come.
