Julian Wilson

The 30-year-old tour veteran (since 2011, when he won Rookie of the Year) got his competitive start in club meets with the Noosa Malibu Club, then was unstoppable in the boys’ division at the Noosa Festival of Surfing, before changing to shortboards and winning a world junior title as a teenager. Since becoming a full-time World Championship Tour surfer, Julian has racked up five event wins, including the coveted Pipeline Masters and Hawaiian Triple Crown, and has frequently threatened but not yet delivered a WSL world title. In 2018 he achieved the highest ranking (#2) of his career.

Jordan Mercer

Only recently recovered from a serious foot injury that kept her out of competition in 2018, former world champion ironwoman and paddler Jordan Mercer, 25, has her heart set on a 2019 comeback that will hopefully see her take out the Molokai Ocean Ski Race (after coming third on debut) in May, grab her seventh Molokai to Oahu world paddle championships race in July, before finishing the year with wins in the prone and stand up world paddle titles.

Josh Constable

Josh Constable, now 38, is back in fine form after competing with distinction at the WSL World Longboard Titles in Taiwan late last year, and the 2006 world longboard champion is expected to make a bold showing at the WSL Noosa Open at the Noosa Festival of Surfing next month. Another product of the Noosa points, Josh gets better with age.

Dean Brady

Noosa Surfing Academy founder and head coach Dean Brady was born in Cooroy in Noosa Shire in 1986, and raised by the ocean in Sunrise Beach. A true water baby, he joined Noosa Nippers aged 7, and Noosa Boardriders Club aged 10. Dean was appointed an ambassador for the Noosa World Surfing Reserve in early 2020 and serves on its Stewardship Council, helping to develop surf safety initiatives and communication of the Surf Code through an emerging schools program. He is also vice-president of the Noosa Boardriders Club.

Ryan Palk

Lucky enough to grow up in Noosa, Ryan Palk found a passion for the ocean which started as a Nipper at the local surf and sailing clubs. This passion and love for the ocean soon turned into a successful competitive career in Olympic class single-handed sailboats, before being introduced to the developing discipline of kitefoiling through local kiteboarding ambassador Mat Colefax. Turning his attention to coaching in 2015, Ryan is focussing on developing juniors in the sport as well as delivering high performance programs for what is now sailing’s newest olympic class. Ryan is also on the committee of Sunshine Coast Kite Racing (www.skr.org.au) which support and administer local racing and training opportunities on the Sunshine Coast, which recently became the nominated Olympic location for the class in the 2032 Games.

Lilliana Bowery

Lil is one of those rare enigmas that can surf on a longboard just as well as she can surf on a shortboard and has been making waves ever since she could stand up. With more accolades under her belt than toes over the nose on a good day at Noosa main break, she was the 2020 QLD state champion – for the 5th time running – and also took out the Ripcurl Gromsearch 2020. You may have seen her as Poppy Tatuanua in the recently released 10 part teen drama series on Netflix “Surviving Summer.” Also nominated in the top 10 Best Female Surfers by Tracks Magazine – it’s proof in the pudding she is starting to become a superstar in the surf world. Talents all round, Lil is skilled at touch footy and just to put the cherry on top, writes her own songs and plays the ukulele. She is an Indonesian island princess growing up with the NWSR as her backyard playground, an excellent surfer who exemplifies our core values everywhere she goes.

Cooper Davies

Cooper Davies born and bred in Noosa, currently a competitor on the QS Surf Series, who was once a star tennis player that quickly turned into traveling the world surfing and competing. Accomplishing an Australian Open Mens title in 2018! Currently when home between events and different surf trips Cooper works as a lifeguard around the NWSR which continues his understanding and appreciation for the beautiful place he’s grown up in!
